Eritrea’s Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Advisor Yemane Ghebreab paid an official visit to Sudan on April 11, where they met with the Vice President of the Sovereign Transitional Council, General Mohammad Dagalo and Finance Minister Gibril Ibrahim.
The Eritrean mission to Sudan was officially aimed at strengthening regional dialogue and promoting bilateral cooperation in the economic field.
The official visit of the Eritrean delegation could, however, also be linked to the regional initiative of the United Arab Emirates aimed at supporting the consolidation of the political groups closest to Abu Dhabi in the Horn of Africa, especially promoting the agenda connected with management of instability in Ethiopia in the regional state of Tigray.
General Dagalo, in fact, as well as Eritrea, is notoriously close to Emirati positions on the dynamics of regional politics.
