Djibouti Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Zakaria Cheikh Ibrahim visited Morocco on September 27, where he was welcomed by his counterpart and with whom he discussed the possibility of increasing defense cooperation between the two countries.
General Ibrahim, together with a large delegation of Djiboutian military personnel, visited some of Morocco’s defense infrastructure and proposed an increase especially in cooperation in the training sector, within the framework agreement between the two countries signed in July 209 (https://sahel-intelligence.com/29058-maroc-visite-du-chef-detat-major-general-des-armees-de-djibouti.html).
The visit of the Djiboutian chief of staff to Morocco is part of the increasingly close relationship between Rabat and Djibouti, reinforced in February 2020 by the opening of a consulate in the city of Dakhla as a sign of support for the recognition of sovereignty over Western Sahara.
